Forever Remember, Never Forget: Lessons Learned From Atomic Bomb Survivor Takashi Tanemori
Thursday, October 1, 2015
Presidio Officers’ Club from 7-8pm
Free Admission
2015 marks the 70th Anniversary of the atomic bombings of Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 and August 9, 1945. This program is a rare opportunity to hear the evolution of this survivor’s heartfelt message of peace.

70 years ago, Takashi Tanemori was an 8 year old playing in the schoolyard, 7/10ths of a mile from ground zero of the blast. He lost his father, mother, most of his family members in the US atomic bomb blast on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. He survived to tell his story through artwork and writing. Tanemori will talk about forgiveness as the precursor to peace.

The exhibition“Forgiveness: A Bridge Between Nations” hosted by the National Japanese American Historical Society and co-sponsored and curated by the Silkworm Peace Institute is currently on display in the Presidio until October 31 at the Military Intelligence Service Historic Learning Center. Hiroshima: Bridge to Forgiveness by Takashi Tanemori and John Crump can be purchased at the event on October 1, 2015.
