In celebration of the Congressional Gold Medal Award to the 100th/442nd/MIS, we honor our Nisei veterans. They helped re-establish post-WWII peace in the U.S. Occupation of Japan, including the re-building of democratic institutions and the re-establishment of their communities in America.

Shin-Isseis were equally important in re-settling America during the post-war years. As emissaries from war-torn Japan, they brought the promise of new immigrants to America. Despite their vulnerability to being foreign-born, they used their strong sense of self and optimism for peace to bridge cultural divides and to reinvigorate our society.
