Hello Maggie by Shig Yabu and illustrated by former Disney animator Willie Ito (Lady and the Tramp) is set during World War II when over 120,000 Japanese Americans were sent to ten different camps, The book is an account of Mr. Yabu's experience raising a wild magpie while confined as a ten-year-old boy at the Heart Mountain War Relocation Center in Wyoming. Deb Aoki is a Hawaii born cartoonist and the author of Bento Box cartoons. She co-authored the books the Slice O'Life and The University of Diversite City with her friend Jon J. Murakami. In her "Slice O' Life" comic strip, Aoki depicted four female college students dealing with schoolwork, part-times jobs, partying and, of course, boys.
