The National Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS) is pleased to invite the public to a Youth Digital Story Screening and Japantown Community Walking Tour on Saturdays, August 1 and August 8, 2009 both at 10 am . The programs will start with a walking tour of Japantown beginning at the NJAHS Peace Gallery at 1684 Post St. (at Laguna) in SF Japantown followed by a screening of the youth interns digital stories. Admission is free!
These presentations are the culmination of NJAHS 2009 Japantown Cultural Tourism Initiative Summer Internship. In its third year, the goal of the internship is to foster leadership and greater historical and cultural understanding for San Francisco Japantown through the perspective of the youth interns. This summer's interns are Bryan Maekawa, Koji Fujioka and Colin Kiyoshi Wong. The two main projects planned for the summer are further developing a walking tour for Japantown Community Walking Tours and completing a personal digital storytelling intensive under the direction of film maker Lina Hoshino (Caught In Between).
