Riding the Kona Wind: Memoirs of a Japanese American
by Francis Y. Sogi

Born to Japanese immigrants who toiled on a coffee plantation in Kona, Hawaii, Francis Sogi became a renowned international lawyer, a global traveler, and a leader in the Japanese American community. This book is a fascinating account of a life that has spanned 8 decades: his upbringing in Hawaii, his participation in the US Army's Military Intelligence Service during World War II, his posting in Hokkaido during the occupation of Japan, and his half-century career as a lawyer in New York and Tokyo. Now in semi-retirement, Mr. Sogi still participates in numerous philanthropic and community service projects, and was one of the early leaders of the Japanese American National Museum.
