Renovation of historical Building 640 as a learning center is being undertaken as a project of the National Japanese Historical Society (NJAHS) in collaboration with the National Park Service and the Presidio Trust. Like many “First Voice” institutions across the country, NJAHS seeks to broaden its exposure to a variety of audiences beyond its traditional constituencies.
The Building’s location at Crissy Field gives the Society an opportunity to broaden it’s current audiences at its Japantown headquarters. From recent meetings of 640 Committee working groups, there are many inter-related and dynamic cultural themes in future programs of the Center.
