Harry and Arline Iwafuchi
Harry Iwafuchi and his wife, Arline Iwafuchi, born Arline Fusae Miyahara, were evicted and imprisoned at Tule Lake WRA Concentration Camp during World War II. In Tule Lake, Arline gave birth to two sons. They later transferred to Heart Mountain WRA Concentration Camp. Harry left Heart Mountain to work on the railroad to earn more money for the family, and he discusses the discrimination that he faced during this time. While he was working for the railroad, Harry was drafted into the United States army. He completed his basic training at Fort Blanding and joined the 100th Battalion overseas. Harry discusses the near-death experiences that he had while in the army facing attacks from the Germans in Italy. Harry and Arline reunited in San Francisco, where Arline resettled following her incarceration. The couple discusses how they hope that the future generations will be curious about the lives of their ancestors.
