Marie Mikiko Kurihara
Marie Kurihara was a young woman when she was forcibly removed from her home in Orosi, CA. directly to Poston WRA Concentration Camp. In this interview, Kurihara discusses the importance of her faith in camp, as well as pursuing her passion for nursing at the camp hospital. She went on to build a respectable career in nursing after the war and became a role model, helping to recruit other Japanese Americans into the nursing field and using her reparations money to fund nursing scholarships. A participant in the redress movement, Kurihara describes how she lobbied congressional representatives in support of the reparations bill.
