Noburu Hamasaki
Noburu Hamasaki, a Nisei born in 1921, discusses his upbringing in Newcastle and later Auburn before he and his family were forcibly moved directly to the Tule Lake WRA Concentration Camp in July of 1942. Hamasaki recalls the attack on Pearl Harbor and the effect it had on his town, as well as his own experiences in the Tule Lake segregation camp after answering “no-no” on the loyalty questionnaire. Hamasaki considers his experience in camp to be somewhat positive, and does not feel angry or regretful.
