Spring Haruye (Nakamoto) Yamamoto
Haruye Yamamoto recalls how life changed for her and her family friends in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. She describes the psychological distress she experienced at Marysville Temporary WCCA “Assembly Center” and how being incarcerated impacted her physically and emotionally. Yamamoto also discusses her incarceration at Tule Lake WRA Concentration Camp, including getting married and her experiences with the camp’s medical staff and facilities during and after her pregnancy. Yamamoto reflects on how she generally avoids discussing her experiences during the war and shares some difficult memories.
