Teruo Nobori
Teruo Nobori, a Nisei man, was running a grocery and produce store in Berkeley at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Nobori was evicted and imprisoned with his pregnant wife at Tanforan Temporary WCCA “Assembly Center” in California and later at Topaz WRA Concentration Camp in Utah. In Topaz, he worked in the art department of community activities. Nobori then volunteered for the U.S. Army, and because of his decision, his wife was ostracized after he left for the army. He became a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and was involved in the rescue of the Lost Battalion as well as the breaking of the Gothic Line. Nobori received a Bronze Star Medal for his heroism in battle as a runner. He expresses his admiration for his fellow soldiers and recounts his experiences in the war.
