Yoshiki “Yosh” Oshima
Yoshiki “Yosh” Oshima was born and raised in Isleton, California. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Oshima was forcibly removed to Walerga Temporary WCCA “Assembly Center” and later Tule Lake WRA Concentration Camp. From Tule Lake, Oshima went to Crystal City DOJ Internment Camp. In Crystal City, Oshima graduated from high school and attended Japanese language school. After the war ended, Oshima and his family went to live in Japan. He soon found a job in Osaka where he used his language skills. Oshima was eventually able to enlist in the U.S. Army and served as a part of the Military Intelligence Service. After working in the occupation of Japan, Oshima continued his service during the Korean War. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, Oshima returned to the United States and attended U.C. Berkeley. In Berkeley, Oshima met his wife; the couple has three children.
