FreeLed by Sansei Writer Shizue Seigel
FREE EVENT! No experience necessary.
Discover your voice at these fun, supportive and uplifting writing workshops led by Sansei writer Shizue Seigel. Everyone is welcome who wants to write about the feel and flavor of Japanese American life. What’s it like to be Sansei, Yonsei, Gosei, Hapa, a former incarceree, a recent immigrant, LGBTQ, raised in Hawaii, raised in a JA community, or not? Share what you write and listen to others’ work.
Shizue Seigel is offering writing workshops in Japantown and in the Fillmore in conjunction with a San Francisco Arts Commission grant to complete her memoir Miss Goody-Good Grows Up. Workshop participants can contribute to a community chapbook to be published in the spring of 2016 (on the commemoration of the 110th anniversary of San Francisco’s Japantown) and participate at a community reading at the San Francisco Main Library.
