Greetings NJAHS Family!

Thank you for your past and on-going support! The National Japanese American Historical Society, Inc.’s  is pleased to celebrate our 40th Anniversary  and commemorate the EO 9066’s 80th Anniversary. For our 2022 complimentary calendar, we highlight our 40 Years of historic NJAHS Exhibits! With the arrival of our families to America, the Japanese immigrant experience is featured in an inaugural exhibit at the renovated hospital building on Angel Island. Over the decades, we showed how Japanese Americans navigated their acculturation and survival through womens’ storytelling, baseball, jazz music, and artisan crafts. In partnership with our regional nonprofits, we presented our We Are All Americans, and WRA Farm Labor case studies. We will explore intersections of Japanese Americans and Blacks in the South through our teacher education series and field trip tours to Rohwer and Jerome. Currently the popular exhibit Enemy Alien Files featuring Department of Justice Internment is being upgraded for tour by the consortium of Japanese Peruvian Oral History Project, the American Italian Historical Association, the German American Internee Coalition. Also, we are excited to work with friends across the Pacific to bring you the stories of identity and loyalty. We encourage your full support of Amache (Granada), a WRA confinement camp, as a national historic site. Most importantly, we want to develop the creative talents of our next generation of cultural interpreters and preservation stewards.
